london modelling portfolio Photographer
For aspiring models, new faces & experienced models
Hi, I’m Jana, a London-based fashion photographer specialising in model portfolio photography. I work with both aspiring models creating their first portfolio and experienced models who want to update their existing book with fresh images.
If you have never been in front of a professional camera before, don’t worry - no modelling experience is required. I’ll guide you through posing, movement and outfit preparation, so you know exactly what to do before and during the shoot.
Why Work With Me?
I’ve been working professionally in photography for over 12 years, with model photography forming a major part of my work. Alongside model portfolios, I photograph fashion, jewellery and beauty campaigns, so my approach to portfolio photography comes from real commercial experience.
For me, a good modelling portfolio is about showing your natural features, proportions, expressions and versatility while helping you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera.
I work with both complete beginners and experienced models, and I’m very hands-on during the shoot. I’ll guide you with posing and movement rather than simply putting you in front of the camera and expecting you to know what to do.

What Models Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure what you need for your modelling portfolio? Start here. I’ve answered the questions I’m asked most often.
-
Nope ☺️ I work with complete beginners as well as experienced models. If this is your first professional shoot, I’ll guide you through preparations for the shoot, and posing and movement throughout the session, so you are not expected to have any previous experience.
-
Not always. Many established modelling agencies initially ask for simple, natural digitals (which you can take with your phone) rather than a professionally styled portfolio.
A professional portfolio becomes useful when you want to build a stronger range of images, develop your book, approach clients or update material that no longer represents your current look.
-
Model digitals - sometimes called snaps or Polaroids - are simple photographs that show your natural appearance with minimal styling and retouching. They usually include a clear headshot, profile and full-length images.
If you need digitals for agency applications, we can include them during your portfolio session alongside more styled portfolio photographs.
Major agencies commonly request this kind of simple application photography.
-
Depending on your goals, your portfolio can include clean headshots, beauty portraits, full-length photographs, natural images and more fashion-led shots that demonstrate movement, expression and versatility.
If you already have a portfolio, we can plan the shoot specifically around the types of images you are missing.
-
Keep it relatively simple. Clothes should show you rather than overpower you. I usually recommend bringing several options such as fitted basics, denim, simple tops, a clean fashion look and footwear that works with your proportions and the type of modelling you are interested in.
Before your shoot, I provide outfit recommendations and prepare a moodboard so we can plan the looks properly rather than deciding everything when you arrive.
Simple clothing and solid colours are commonly recommended because they allow the model rather than the outfit to remain the focus.
-
Yes - very much so. I’ll guide you with body position, hands and movement throughout the shoot.
With beginners, I tend to give more direction initially and gradually encourage more natural movement as you become comfortable. With experienced models, the process is usually more collaborative and we can work on expanding the range already in your portfolio.
-
No. Retouching is kept natural and is usually limited to skin cleanup, colour correction and removing temporary marks or distractions.
For modelling portfolios and agency-related images, the goal is to show what you genuinely look like rather than dramatically changing facial features or body proportions. Agencies need to be able to recognise the person in the photographs.
-
Portfolio sessions take place in professional photography studios in London. The exact studio is selected according to the package, required setup and availability, and I’ll confirm the location with you before the shoot (either central London or East London locations).
-
Absolutely yes! Parents or guardians are welcome to attend, particularly when the model is under 18.
I keep my shoots professional, relaxed and respectful, and I’m also happy to arrange a short video call before the session if you or your parent would like to meet me and discuss the shoot beforehand ☺️
